FLEET REPORT

The Colonial Regional Police Department’s vehicle fleet consists of twenty one vehicles. This fleet is broken down into two (2) areas, Marked Patrol Vehicles and Support Vehicles.

Marked Patrol Vehicles are vehicles that officers utilize for daily patrol functions. All of these vehicles are fully marked and outfitted with emergency warning lights. There are currently 11 vehicles that are classified Marked Patrol Vehicles.

              Two (2) – 2007 Ford Crown Victorias

              Two (2) – 2006 Ford Crown Victorias

              Two (2) – 2005 Ford Crown Victorias

              One (1) – 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

              One (1) – 2004 Ford Expedition

              Two (2) – 2003 Ford Crown Victorias

              One (1) – 2002 Ford Explorer

Most Patrol Vehicles are assigned two (2) officers. Those officers are responsible for the vehicle’s routine maintenance. If any problem were to arise with any patrol vehicle, it is the vehicle’s assigned officer’s responsibility to notify Deputy Chief DePalma, who is responsible for Fleet Maintenance.

Support Vehicles are used in a secondary, non-patrolling function. These vehicles have no markings and the emergency lighting is portable. There are currently five (5) vehicles that are classified Support Vehicles.

              One (1) – 2001 Ford Crown Victoria

              Two (2) – 1997 Ford Crown Victorias – Detectives

              One (1) – 1995 Ford Crown Victoria – Deputy Chief

              One (1) – 2006 Ford Explorer – Chief

              One (1) – 2002 Ford Crown Victoria

               

Also in the Colonial Regional Police Department Fleet is:

                  Three (3) – Undercover vehicles which were seized by Colonial Regional Police during drug investigations/arrests. These vehicles allow officers the ability to conduct in-depth drug investigations and surveillance without compromising the investigation. These vehicles have not been altered in anyway for police use.

                  One (1) – 1995 Ford van, which was donated by the Best Western, has been converted to carry and deploy the truck weighing equipment used while conducting Motor Carrier Compliance Checks. This vehicle is also used as a mobile crash investigation and crime scene unit, DUI checkpoint mobile office and incident command center.

                  One (1) – Gulfstream Trailer which was purchased from F.E.M.A., has been used as the command post at a D.U.I. Checkpoint. This trailer will also be used whenever a mobile command post is needed.

2007 Fleet Costs were as follows:

                  $70,565.71 – Final payment of two (2) 2006 Crown Victorias and one (1) 2006 Ford Explorer. Initial payment of two (2) 2007 Crown Victorias; including all modifications. Colonial Regional Police Department leases all their vehicles for two (2) years with the initial payment paid at the day of delivery and the final payment paid at the one (1) year anniversary. The vehicles are then owned by the department.

                  $28,415.88 – Spent of vehicle maintenance and general repairs.

              $54,868.88 – Spent on vehicle fuel.

              $3,286.76 – Spent on vehicle tires / balancing costs.

              $733.20 – Spent on vehicle washing / detailing

                  $1,653.00– Spent on calibrations. *Note: This also includes stop watch calibrations.

                  Gulfstream Travel Trailer

                         In 2007 Colonial Regional Police Department purchased a Gulfstream Travel Trailer from P.E.M.A. for $4,500.00.  These trailers were originally bought by F.E.M.A. to house the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  The Federal Government put the excess trailers up for sale to public emergency organizations at a discounted price.

                         The travel trailer will be used as a Command Post in any event that should arise.  It was used at a D.U.I. Checkpoint in 2007 and proved to be a valuable asset.
