The Colonial Regional Police Department's "Shop with Cops" was held on Saturday, December 8, 2007. With the help of Walmart and Red Robin Restaurant, C.R.P.D. treated seven (7) area children to a day that they will never forget. Local schools provided CRPD with the names of children who they felt were in need during the holiday season. Each of the children were picked up by an officer in a patrol vehicle, taken to Dunkin Donuts for light refreshments, then along with their assigned officer were allowed to spend $400 per child to purchase gifts for their families. After Walmart employees assisted with the wrapping of the gifts, the children were escorted by their officers to Red Robin Restaurant for lunch. The children were also given $70 gift cards provided by Giant Food Stores towards their holiday dinner. The program was funded by donations from private citizens and businesses from within the community. Without the help of Walmart, Red Robin, Dunkin Donuts, Giant Foods, the officers of CRPD and the many volunteers, this event would not have been such a success. 2008 Colonial Regional Police Department
