Colonial Regional Police Department's Bike Patrol
The Colonial Regional Police Department started their Bicycle Patrol Program in 1997 to assist with security problems at the Nazareth Speedway. The program started with two (2) officers and two (2) bicycles.The Bicycle Patrol has also been used on occasions to assist in patrolling problematic areas. Bicycle Patrol was utilized in Hanover Township in efforts to deter juvenile criminal mischief and thefts during the evening and overnight hours in neighborhoods and parks. Bicycle patrols were commonly used during the summer months to patrol Bath Borough and the Northampton Crossings Mall in Lower Nazareth Township.
The Bicycle Patrol has been used to patrol parks, during parades and community events. Today, CRPD has four (4) bicycles and eight (8) certified Bicycle Patrol Officers. |
