Colonial Regional Police Department In Conjunction With The Northampton County Drug Task Force The Colonial Regional Police Department has been a member of the Northampton County Drug Task Force (NCDTF) since the Colonial Regional Police Department’s inception. Currently, there are 18 officers assigned on an "as needed" part-time basis. Sergeant Michael Melinsky and Detective Charles Horvath are Field Supervisors and coordinate all drug investigations which encompass 26 municipalities within Northampton County. Sergeant Michael Melinsky and Chief Seiple are members of the Board of Directors for the Task Force. Sergeant Wendling and Sergeant Melinsky are also cross certified as Lehigh County Drug Task Force Officers. The Northampton County Drug Task Force is funded by the Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Office. The costs involving case expenses, purchasing of evidence and officers salaries are provided by this funding. In 2006 approximately 128 Task Force drug investigations were conducted in Northampton County; of those Colonial Regional Police Department initiated 89 of them and participated in 100. CRPD has worked closely with the Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A.), Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Bureau of Narcotic Investigation and Drug Control, The Lehigh County Drug Task Force, the cities of Easton, Bethlehem and Allentown Police Departments, as well as numerous other municipal police jurisdictions. Most of the drugs that the NCDTF has contact with is Marijuana, Crack/Cocaine, Heroin, Ecstasy and various illegally obtained prescription drugs. |
