Frantz – Fire Chief East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department, October 17, 2006 Officer Michael Kovach: Commendation, "…officers were dispatched to an Armed Robbery in Progress…in Hanover Township. The suspects had fled the scene and a description was broadcast via Northampton County Control Center. You observed a vehicle parked next to a black Honda on Highpoint Blvd. The vehicle was operated by a female and occupied by two actors whose descriptions were similar to the suspects. As you approached the vehicle began to pull away. You followed the vehicle, radioed for assistance and conducted a traffic stop. Upon the arrival of Sgt. John Harmon all occupants of the vehicle were ordered out, taken into custody and detained. You secured the vehicle and waited for further direction. A search of the Honda parked on Highpoint Drive produced a loaded sawed-off shotgun, and other evidence of the crime. Within an hour it was determined that the two male actors you had apprehended were in fact involved in the robbery. A third suspect was identified and ultimately an arrest warrant was issued. You relied on your experience, training and intuition in resolving this incident without injury to any involved party. Clearly the appropriate tactical response defused the situation in a safe manner. Your actions on this evening directly resulted in the apprehension of two dangerous suspects. It is that type of performance of duty that makes me and the Commission proud to know you are a member of the Colonial Regional Police Department. You are commended for your efforts. Excellent work." - Chief Roy D.
