
Many of the Colonial Regional
Police Officers are certified in specialized areas of law enforcement.
- Northampton
County Drug Task Force:
The NCDTF is a multi-jurisdictional task force that is
geared toward the elimination of drugs and their influences in Northampton
County. Many Northampton County Police Agencies participate in this task
force sponsored by the Northampton County District Attorney's Office.
Sgt. Michael Melinsky of Colonial Regional Police Department is one of the
Supervisors of this task force. Additional Colonial Regional Officers
participate in county-wide task force operations.
ALL
of Colonial Regional Officer's are certified American Heart Association CPR/AED
providers, along with certifications from the Department of Health as
Emergency Medical First Responders.
Currently Colonial
Regional Police Department has two (2) full-time Detectives who are trained in
various specialized investigative techniques. Detective Gary Hammer is
the senior Detective along with Detective
Michael Munch.
Sgt. John Harmon and
Sgt. George Cuchran are certified PA State Motor Vehicle Crash Investigators.
Six (6) Colonial Regional Officers are certified as Bicycle
Patrol Officers. Sergeants John Harmon and George Cuchran,
Officers Michael Enstrom, Michael Kovach, Frank Epser and
Detective Michael Munch
Sgt. George Cuchran is a certified
Child Safety Technician. He has been certified through AAA and the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (N.H.T.S.A.).
Officer Michael Kovach
has been teaching D.A.R.E. since 1998 for Colonial Regional Police
Department.
Officer Dean Benner
and Detective Michael Munch are certified through Pressure Point Control Tactics to instruct defensive
tactics.
Detective Michael Munch, Officer Gary Young and Officer Thomas Mahalick are certified Firearms
Instructors. Officer Thomas Mahalick is a certified
Less Lethal Instructors.
Officer Terrance McIntosh and Officer
Frank Epser have been certified through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation to inspect motor carrier vehicles and their
drivers. Officer Dean Benner and Officer Keith Kulp have been certified
through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to
inspect motor carrier vehicles for heights and weights.
